Your Files Stay on Your Device
SimpleCut is a client-side application. When you "upload" a video to edit, it is processed entirely within your web browser using WebAssembly technology. Your video files are never uploaded to our servers or any third-party cloud storage. We literally cannot see your videos.
Data Collection
We believe in data minimization. Since the core functionality happens locally on your device, we do not collect personal content.
- Video Content: Processed locally. Not collected.
- Project Data: Stored in your browser's LocalStorage and IndexedDB. Not collected.
- Account Info: We do not have user accounts or sign-ups.
Analytics
We use anonymous analytics (Vercel Analytics) to understand how our website is used and to improve performance. This data is aggregated and does not identify individual users.
We track metrics such as:
- Page views and visitor counts
- Country of origin (for performance optimization)
- Device type (Desktop vs. Mobile)
Local Storage
To save your work, we use standard browser technologies like LocalStorage and IndexedDB. This allows you to close the tab and come back to your project later. You can clear this data at any time by clearing your browser's cache.
